Client Case Study Robin Benson - When I Grow Up
Client Case Study Robin Benson - When I Grow Up Um, do you know that Ive coached hundreds of women since I started offering dream career guidance in 2008? And that these women are freakin rock stars, leaving soul-sucking jobs and traveling the world and launching creative, grown-up businesses and simply doing work that fits their lifestyle goals? Well ya do now and youll hear their stories firsthand in my Client Case Studies series! Im so thrilled to profile Robin Benson, who worked her way from being an Executive Assistant in NYC (like me!) to an Event Manager at a museum in Texas. So much goodness here! Why did you decide to work with a creative career coach? I decided to work with a creative career coach because it felt like it had been years since I had been happy at work. What were you doing work-wise when we started our sessions? When we started our sessions, I was working as a six-figure executive assistant at a law firm. It was sucking the life out of me. What was your biggest takeaway from our work together? You manage what you measure. I realized that when I sit down and crunch the numbers and gather ALL of the necessary information (rather than making assumptions); the truth rises to the surface. I was terrified of not having enough money and time, but realized that if I was intentional about how I spent my money and time, that I could increase happiness and productivity. Was there anything else you tried to do as a career between the time we stopped our program and what you do for work now? If so, how did it inform your current career? I continued to work for my old boss part time and worked part time at the Museum where I currently work. It helped me to think about myself as my own business as opposed to just a cubicle jockey. What would you tell someone now that was in your shoes when we first started working together? Be patient. It takes time. But you can get there. Whats your best tip to allow them to make a grown-up living doing what they love? Always be willing to pivot and do NOT sell yourself short. I currently work as an event manager at a museum in Texas. When a friend suggested that I apply for this position, I laughed and said I had no experience in this sector and would never be hired. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and am now happier at work than IĆ¢ve been in years. Whats on the horizon for your business? I hope to start my own business that supports small nonprofits. Wanna work with me one-on-one like Robin did? Check out the details here there are just 2 spots left for an April start! and then register for my free webinar on 1/29 so you can set yourself up for a successful career change!
